I am working on a series of paintings called "Green Woman" and as you might expect this has challenged my understanding of the colour green in all its myriad variations. Green can be bright, dark, fresh, mature, springlike, faded, sunny, shady, vibrant, subtle, opaque, translucent, and so on. To establish some basic parameters i have found working on colour charts a helpful tool. I have developed a good layout for exploring two way mixes of colour (and related tints) ... but the real complexity comes with three way mixes where I end up falling back on intuition, experimentation and accident (happy or otherwise!). I hope to avoid the poisonous ones ...
